States Reportedly Asked To Prepare For Possible COVID Vaccine By Mid-Fall
Public health officials across the country have been advised to prepare for the potential distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as late October or early November, The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing guidance sent out last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A vaccine for the coronavirus has yet to be developed. However, should that happen, the CDC says that limited amounts would first be distributed to health care workers and members of other high-risk groups. The supply would “increase substantially” over the next year, according to the guidance, which was reportedly sent to health officials in all 50 states as well as those in several major cities on Aug. 27.
